It does not need to because yoga is not a religion. It is true that yoga originates in ancient India where religious practice grew to become what we know of today as Hinduism and Buddhism. Because of this, many of the more traditional yoga schools may be influenced by these teachings. You may see and hear about things like chanting, karma and reincarnation.
Yoga is thought of as a living art and a science; hence its practical application to modern life does not include nor endorse any particular beliefs.
You can be a Christian, Jew, Moslem, Hindu or atheist and do yoga. Also it may help you to remember that all religions are based on love, devotion and doing the right thing and if you bear that in mind, most conflicts with religion and yoga should fall away.
